----Prom Night----



==A few hours earlier==

Doki made her way out of the school and back towards her house. She had just left Nabi with Brandon, and now, she was going home to try on some clothes for prom. Normally, she would be running home as fast as she could, with a giant smile on her face. But instead, she was just walking slowly, with great depression…

“Could that note be true…?”

The question had been in her head all day. Every last word of the note was still stuck in her head. She kept telling herself that Nabi would be there, but there was still so much doubt that she couldn’t convince herself to believe it. As she stepped in her home, she sat down on her bed and looked over on her dresser.

On top of it was the heart that Nabi gave to her…

She got up and took it in her hands. She smiled a little bit as she remembered where she got it. It was a gift to her from Nabi, when they were still freshman. She still had the green and pink ribbons tied around it, and somehow…

This gave her hope…

She couldn’t describe it, but just looking at the heart gave her a tiny spark of hope inside her. Hope that Nabi would be there with her when she went to the prom. Hope that she would be able to show the person who write that note that she and Nabi were inseparable. It gave her hope that she never felt before…

So, finally, she stood up and got ready for the prom. After hours of work, she had picked out the right dress (which was a light pink), and was wearing a fair amount of makeup. And just to be safe, she took the heart and put it in her small pocket in her dress. She didn’t really know why. She thought maybe so she could keep her hope…

==A few hours later==

Doki looked at her watch, and she wiped a small tear from her eyes. It was about 10 minutes since prom started, and Nabi still wasn’t out there. He was supposed to meet her outside about 30 minutes ago, and even with the heart with her, she was gradually starting to lose hope. She had even knocked on his door and called him on his phone (which was off at the time). Finally, she decided that he might already be at the school.

She looked one more time at Nabi’s apartment, and then she turned around and started to head towards the school. Occasionally, she would reach into her pocket and take out the heart, but no matter how many times she did, it didn’t make a difference. Deep down, she knew that he probably wouldn’t make it…

…But what if he did?
